The Romanian National Agency for Tax Administration issued a press release today, the contents of which I present below.
“At this time, considering the difficult economic environment caused by the spread of COVID-19 virus infection, the National Agency for Tax Administration has prepared a series of measures to support the business environment, the most important of which is as follows:
- Suspension or, as the case may be, non-initiation of enforcement of debts owed to the Treasury. To this end, summonses, seizures of cash and traceable income means and seizures on goods will not be issued. Amounts derived from court decisions issued in criminal matters are excluded.
- Refund of VAT, during March 2020, for all VAT returns approved and for which updated refund decisions have been issued.
- Implementation of a new VAT refund mechanism, which aims to quickly resolve VAT returns, starting April 1, 2020.- Suspension of tax inspection measures (tax inspections, anti-fraud inspections), with the exception of audits that can be carried out remotely, as well as cases of tax evasion, where are the directions in this regard.
- Suspension of anti-fraud actions related to Filter II and specific activities at the borders with Hungary and Bulgaria.
The measures will be applied during the period when a state of emergency is declared in Romania, as well as for a period of 30 days after the end of this state.
In addition, the deadline for filing tax returns is postponed from March 25, 2020 to April 25, 2020. ”
